Venture out into the beautiful Herefordshire countryside to discover all it has to offer. From historic castles and villages to spectacular landscapes and gardens. Remember to sample the local wine and cider along the way. You'll find all of the below less than an hour and a half away from The Old Rectory at the Pudleston Estate.

Historic Herefordshire

There is plenty of history right on the doorstep of The Old Rectory. Leominster is only ten minutes down the road from The Pudleston Estate. As well as being convenient to stock up on the essentials at the supermarket, it is known for its antique shops and medieval feel.

The market town of Ledbury has a rich history and has some of the most iconic architecture in the region, while the pretty town of Ludlow boasts an impressive castle with spectacular views over the countryside.

Don't forget to visit the county town of Hereford where you'll find the beautiful Hereford Cathedral. Take a tour of the city centre and discover the area’s unique heritage, or visit some of the local shops and restaurants. 

Castles & Courts

Go back in time to the 15th century at Hampton Court Castle Gardens. Stroll through its beautiful gardens featuring herbaceous borders and water features set amongst spectacular countryside.

Set at the foot of the Malvern Hills is Eastnor Castle, dating back to the Georgian era. It is encircled by a deer park, lake and arboretum with lots of family friendly activities to enjoy.

Within an hours drive, there are some beautiful National Trust gems to explore. From the historic Berrington Hall and Croome Court, to the beautiful gardens at Brockhampton Estate, and the stunning architecture of Croft Castle.

The Great Outdoors

​Take a stroll around Bodenham Lake, one of the largest expanses of open water in Herefordshire appreciating the scenery and bird spotting as you go. 

Forty minutes away you'll find the Malvern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where trails wind their way through quaint towns and up rugged hills. You'll find leisurely strolls or more challenging hikes taking in the scenery and the fresh air.

A little further afield are the Brecon Beacons where as well as walking you can also enjoy pursuits such as cycling, horse riding, fishing and paddlesports.

For the kids

Are you ready for a safari? Look no further than West Midlands Safari Park forty-five minutes away from the Pudleston Estate! With over 200 species of animals, this park offers the ultimate wildlife experience. Take a self-drive tour of the impressive 4-mile Safari Drive-Through or try some of the thrilling rides. 

Meet the animals at some of the regions farms including Shortwood Farm, Newbridge Play Barn & Farm Park and Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre at Kington.

Experience a unique journey around the world at the family friendly Ralph Court Gardens, where mythology and fantasy come together to create an unforgettable adventure through their gardens. And that's not all - you can also explore the their pre-historic Dinosaur World. 

On a rainy day the kids can get crafty at Glazydayz Pottery in Ledbury and Pitter Potter in Tenbury Wells. Or climb the walls at Green Spider Climbing, expend some energy at Flip Out or run wild at Play Planet in Hereford.

Wine, Cider & Spirits

The region has no shortage of outstanding vineyards, including Frome Valley Vineyard, Coddington Vineyard and Three Choirs Vineyard where you can savor the taste of the finest wines with an unmatched ambiance.

Escape to the orchards in Herefordshire, where you can immerse yourself in the rich history and delicious offerings of the areas famous cider production. Enjoy tours and tastings at some of our local favourites including Newton Court Cider, Butford Organics, Oliver's Cider & Perry and Westons Cider Mill.

For those who enjoy gin or whisky, Ludlow distillery offers an ideal experience. You can either take a tour of the distillery or visit their shop to discover their range of products.
